Quick Knits
Well, I think Bailey ate my tape measure. I shouldn't be surprised because she was scared of it. Natural reaction I guess. "Bah! I'm scared! Eat it and it can't scare me!"
So, time to get a new one.
And! *drumroll* Two new projects complete and to show!
Project one: Maine Mitten Mitts
I cast these on on Thursday. Well, the first glove. My first time working with Double Pointed Needles, and I'm so proud of how these turned out! And how quickly! I binded off the second glove after my Humane Society Volunteer training midday on Saturday.
All in all, I think these really only took a few hours.
The Yarn is Noro Silk Garden, color scheme 211. Took one skien, and I have a bit of excess that I'm going to use to tighten some things up on the first one. It's a little looser since I wasn't quite sure of the DPNS. Easily fixable I think since the loose bit is on the DPN transition. I'll just whip stitch it to close the gap a bit.
I love how the colors turned out and while my mother now wants a pair, I'm thinking that I might make another pair for myself.
This is also a nice project to learn off of, because now friend wants me to try making a pair of fingerless gloves that have the hole for each finger and goes about halfway down the fingers. We'll see what happens.
Project two: Dog Sweater
This was a spur of the moment cast on. Mainly to kill time while I was waiting for my friend to come watch a movie. And the fact that I am housesitting the dog, it was easier to make it so I could fit it to the pooch while I was near her.
Anyways, the pattern is from Lion Brand. It's called Need for Tweed. It's also made out of the same yarn I'm using on the afghan.
The sweater is worked in two panels of garter stitch. This is an ideal pattern if you're just starting out (and a dog lover, of course!) There's minimal decreasing and learning to piece together panels.
Back to working on the afghan now...since I've become frustrated with trying to work on the socks.
