A Mother Can Finally Rejoice!
Yes that's right. A mother can finally rejoice. Her daughter has finally found a girlish hobby. Only took 24 years, right?
Hi there readers! Eventually, yes, I'd like to make this a knitting blog, but until I finally find what I am doing with those needles and that I'm doing it well enough, this'll be an adventure for the both of us, I'm sure.
I'm sure that title is a bit perplexing. Well, I'm not exactly the cookie cutter knitter. Nor the wonderful, precious little girl mommy was always hoping for. Considering my biggest hobbies include gaming and renaissance re-enactment, where I portray a pirate complete with blades that I do occasionally fight in rapier tournaments with alongside my significant other, that is one of the most accomplished fighters in our club.
Sporting a razored rocker hair do, most comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt...I'm sure my mother always wanted a bit more. We've gotten closer with my new knitting hobby...meeting for coffee and knitting in Panera Bread, but I'm sure she, like I, am wondering if this is a phase.
Hopefully, it's not. I'm striving to work on my knitting and come up with some fun and functional things. That's the biggest problem I run into with patterns. I look at them and think, "I would never use that..." So, small steps. I'm designing a few things and trying to become a better knitter and see where it takes me.
Thankfully, I have some very supportive folks around me that are saying "Go go go! Knit it!" And one very hip soon to be roommate that is keen on heading to the yarn shop and saying "Ash! Do that blanket in this!" while holding up some awesome color.
So, just a nice quick introduction blurb. You'll probably see a lot of insight to the workings of my life and some of the things I'm working on. As always, any thoughts, comments, advice are greatly appreciated.
-Ash
