Words with my fiber
So I join a vintage knit a long. All these really neat patterns from the 40's perhaps? Sitting around the shop with the hippest ladies. Our local Sassy Brit, my girl Jennie, and the rest of our "classy" group, spouting off things like "makes my butt pucker" that make a list of quotes we can't forget. (Don't ask. I don't remember anything about the conversation except that line, which is two mashed together to get that and make us collapse in giggles.)
I start with lace weight alpaca. Hate it. It hurts to knit with it. It's too fine. And while I realize a nightgown can be see through, it's not supposed to be like that!
So, I switch to bamboo. Oh my. It's heavenly. Soft. Silky. I love it!
Well, I bunk it up. That's right. 2nd cast on. I bunk it up. I tear it all out, and start again, this time in the round, so I don't have to do two panels, and less purling! Whee!
Well, I bunked that up to. Grr. I'm making it work though. I won't tell you what I did because I'm hoping the "fix" will be almost unnoticeable when I'm done.
So far, 9 rounds in. You can see how it's shaping up! Pretty lovely. Yes, there will be more. My hope is to be past the lace edging at the bottom by next Saturday. It's a high hope, but there's no other way to shoot, is there?
I'm setting it aside for the night as I'm still slightly miffed at it. To change the mood and leave ya smiling, a picture of a sacked out puppy. Awe, Bailey!
