Inspiration and Giddyness
It's another non picture post, for two reasons...
1. I'm not entirely sure where the camera is. Whether it made it into a box, or is hiding under something, but it's not on me at this point in time.
2. The reason for my giggly, happy school girl knitter moment is brought to you by my mother's Yule gift. Pictures mean she'll see it and know what it is. No pictures mean she'll still be asking me, "So, what's on the needles for X-mas?"
However, I can say this. Her gift is my first ever attempt at felting. Since I've officially moved into a rental until the closing of the house and we're short a washer and dryer for the moment, (Mainly, we don't want to move it, then move it again) I leapt at the chance to use my mother's washer while they left town today. Look at that Chief's! You're good for something after all! (They are up in KC for the Football game tomorrow and, of course, shopping.)
This afternoon has been spent with reading a wonderful article online about Felting from Knitty.com and then splash, a toss in the washer, and literally 5 minutes later, I have a felted gift and a giddy attitude! (Isn't it wonderful that yarn does this to folks!) Jen gets a text message full of my giddy felting fun, and currently, the mystery gift is outside, drying and blocking in the sun, since the weather is gorgeous today! In the 70's!
I'll knit up the rest of the bits for it and toss it in the wash later this evening, I hope but yeah! Happy Knitting fun! I will be taking pictures, when I find the camera, and most will be obscure shots to keep folks guessing! But I really think this project has and will turn out amazing!
I'll also finish that wooden box this evening too after I finish up some work.
And in other knitting news, I finally finished the left mitt of my October mitt. So disappointed in myself at how slow I was with that one, but then again, moving, closing, 10 month hiatus on the horizon, my mind and sanity have indeed been elsewhere.
Despite a slight oddity in the thumb that I'm not sure how to not have happen on the second glove, they're beautiful! I'm trying to keep Bob's mother from stealing them, since she really seems to like them. It looks like I might have another skien left though, so I could possibly make another set for her. She might like that.
I cast on it's mate yesterday, and I'm already to the main body of it. That's some super fast knitting there, since that left one seemed to take an entire month! *chuckle* Again, once I find the camera, pictures will be incoming. I'm so pleased with them, really.
And, they've boosted my confidence to start on socks, since they were done in a sock weight yarn on ones. Mmm. Knitted socks. I'm getting a bit more giggly.
Enough gabbing though, I think it's time to finish up work and finish more knitting. Until I have the pictures, be well.
